Anyone who has paid for a salon blow-dry in London and then walked out into the drizzle knows the problem. By the time you reach the Tube, half the bounce has gone. Booking a stylist to come to you takes the journey out of it: the style goes straight from their hands to wherever you're heading.
It also fits round real life. You can get breakfast on, take a call or let the courier in while a section cools. On GLAM LAB, hair PROs set their own menus and prices and show their work in a portfolio, so you know what you're getting before anyone rings the doorbell.
Styles you can book
Most mobile hair PROs concentrate on styling. Some also cut or colour at home, and if so it will be listed on their profile. Popular bookings include:
- Blow-dries. Smooth and glossy, or full of volume with a round brush. Allow 30 minutes to an hour depending on length and thickness.
- Curls and waves. Loose beach waves, defined tong curls or a polished Hollywood wave for black-tie events.
- Up-dos and ponytails. Low chignons, sleek high ponytails, braided styles and half-up, half-down looks.
- Bridal and occasion hair. A trial beforehand, then a long-hold style on the day that works with your veil, pins or fresh flowers.
- Curly, coily and textured hair. Silk presses, curl definition and protective styles. Choose a PRO whose portfolio shows work on hair like yours.
- Extensions and clip-ins. Blending clip-ins, or styling existing extensions so they sit naturally.
How booking works
Search for hair styling and your date, compare PRO profiles by portfolio, reviews and price, then book the slot that suits you. After booking, send a couple of reference photos (including the back of the head if you want an up-do) and a short note about your hair: its length and thickness, whether it holds a curl, and any products you react to.
Preparing your hair and your space
Ask your PRO how they'd like your hair when they arrive. For many up-dos, hair washed the day before holds pins and curl better than freshly washed hair. For a blow-dry, most stylists want it freshly washed, and some will ask you to have it towel-dried and ready to go. Skip heavy oils at the roots on the day unless you've been told otherwise.
For the space itself:
- A chair without arms, with room for the stylist to walk all the way round it.
- A mirror, good light and a plug socket within reach of the chair.
- A heatproof surface or mat for tongs and straighteners.
- Any accessories laid out: veil, hair vine, clips or flowers.
- Pets in another room. Hot tools and wagging tails don't mix.
What it costs in London
Each GLAM LAB PRO sets their own prices, and you'll see them before you book. For a feel for the wider market: as of 2026, London mobile stylists typically charge roughly £25 to £55 for a blow-dry and around £60 to £120 for an up-do or occasion style, with bridal hair priced higher, particularly when a trial is included. Some independent stylists add a travel fee or set a minimum booking, so check what's included when you compare.
Hair, makeup and nails on the same day
If you're also booking a mobile makeup artist, the two PROs can work around each other. Hair is often set or put in rollers first, makeup goes on while it cools, and then the style is finished. In a group, allow 30 to 45 minutes per guest and longer for the bride. At-home nails are best done the day before, so nothing gets chipped while you're being pinned. If you're still deciding what to ask for, our 2026 trend report covers the looks PROs are actually being booked for this year.
Frequently asked questions
Do mobile hair stylists bring their own tools?
Yes. Your PRO brings dryers, brushes, tongs, straighteners, pins and finishing products. You provide a chair, a mirror and a plug socket.
Can my hair be washed at home?
Some PROs will wash hair at your sink or in the shower, while others ask you to have it washed before they arrive. Check the profile or ask after you book.
How long will an up-do last?
With the right prep and products, a well-built up-do should see you through the day and the evening. Very fine or freshly washed hair can slip, so follow your PRO's advice on washing and keep a few spare pins in your bag.
Can a stylist do hair for a whole wedding party?
Yes. Allow roughly 30 to 45 minutes per guest and more for the bride. For larger parties or tight timings, two PROs working side by side is often easier than one very early start.
Should I have a trial for bridal hair?
Yes, ideally one to three months before the wedding. Bring your accessories, wear a top with a neckline similar to your dress, and take photos from every angle.
